As a focal point for the village of Imocomano with magnificent views over the Apennini mountains, these old converted stables provide an opportunity to become a part of local village life. Enjoy the serenity and villages in these mountain surrounds, while being within just a short drive from Tuscany's beaches and its world-renowned towns and cities.
RENTAL ACCOMMODATION
The converted stables and farmer's cottage has been renovated to a high standard, with modern/contemporary fittings without loosing its Tuscan charm.
The renovation reveals the property's heritage as the original farm stables through its wonderful stone walls and chestnut beamed ceilings. A feature winding stone staircase leads to a spacious galleried seating area which affords views over the Taverone valley.
The private terrace is a delightful spot to relax or dine, with pretty container planting and a large parasol shading the table and chairs.
The first floor living area is open plan with a large dining area and above a galleried seating area. A focal point is the large wood burner stove which provides the central heating. Double doors lead from the kitchen area to a private terrace set with pretty flowered planters, al fresco dining facilites and a built in barbeque.
Accommodation - 2 bedrooms, sleeps 6
The rental villa has a huge master bedroom with chestnut beamed ceiling and views down the valley, a further twin bedroom on the ground floor and a double sofa bed on the mezzamine. The large contemporary bathroom comprises of a five piece bathroom suite with separate shower.
Comano villa
The larger village of Comano is just a short walk away, with the exact time being dependant on the speed at which you can tackle a hill, because at 650m above sea-level, the trek is steep! The reward for a little exertion... no one's to know if you opt to drive... are two cafe's and hotels, a pizzeria, grocery, bakers and newsagent. There is also a garage.It could be due to the mountain air or exercise, but some claim that the best food you will ever eat can be found at Crespiano's, just 5 minutes drive away.
There is a swimming pool in Comano village, just 10 mins walk from the properties, including from Casa Giovanna, at Hotel Miramonte, where the owner Umberto, allows our guests to use his pool provided they patronise his restaurant and pizzaria occasionally.
Walking
The Appenini mountain range offers a choice of trekking from 2 to 20 miles from outside the front door.
Beaches
The beaches and coastline made famous by Byron and Shelly are just 30 minutes away. The coastal town of Cinque Terra is not to be missed, being accessible by car or a short boat trip from Lerice.
The Area
The unspoilt area surrounding Comano is a walkers and photographers paradise. There is also horse riding and trekking facilties in the village and in winter there are 2 ski resorts close by.Within easy reach of numerous local historical town to explore as Bagnone, Pontremoli and Fivizzano and the interesting hamlet of Equi Terme at the entrance to the Apuanian Alps park.
Numerous small coastal, inland and mountain villages and towns are waiting to be explored. Many have historic interest and include Bagnone, Liccina Nardipic, Bastia and Crespiano.
Florence is about 2 hours drive, and Pisa 1 hour. Lucca is 75 minutes.
- Cinque Terre, the world famous coastline which stretches northwards from Portovenere up towards Porto Fino is an absolute must for a visit. It takes about 45 mins to drive to Lerici where visitors can take a boat trip visiting all of the five towns, most of which are only accessible by sea. Pic33(1) and pic 2e(1)
- The Byron/Shelley coastline, where Byron drowned whilst swimming to the island offshore from Portvenere must be visited on the journey back from visiting the Cinque Terre. Visitors must climb the steps up to the church and enjoy the views. A walk along the front from Lerice to San Terrenzo pic (3b(1), and a visit at night time is another must see.
- Bagnone is worth a visit to enjoy a walk through the town, the winding river and a scenic walk from over the river up to the old castle, (steep but well worth the effort)
- Licciana Nardi is down the hill about 5 miles from the farmhouse, where local olive oil can be bought, as well as castagna honey.
- The marble Carrara mountains, are also worth a visit, along the motorway towards Pisa, about 40 mins, the mountains appear to be covered in snow, but do not be fooled.
Airports
Pisa is approximately 75 minutes drive. Genoa is 90 minutes, and Milan, Florence and Bologna are about two hours.PRICE
